A detective with a secret lineage. An undercover Hunter with a bullet-proof soul. And a world made to pay for the sins of an angel…

Homicide detective Alexandra Jarvis answers to no one. Especially not to the new partner assigned to her in the middle of a gruesome serial killer case—a partner who is obstructive, irritatingly magnetic, and arrogant as hell.

Aramael is a Power—a hunter of the Fallen Angels. A millennium ago, he sentenced his own brother to eternal exile for crimes against humanity. Now his brother is back and wreaking murderous havoc in the mortal realm. To find him, Aramael must play second to a human police officer who wants nothing to do with him and whose very bloodline threatens both his mission and his soul.

Now, faced with a fallen angel hell-bent on triggering the apocalypse, Alex and Aramael have no choice but to join forces, because only together can they stop the end of days.

A fascinating, thrilling, new dark urban fantasy!

Homicide Detective Alexandra Jarvis is in the middle of a grueling serial murder investigation, when she’s assigned a new partner. Alex sees Jacob Trent as a presumptuous man with no investigative experience who is sure to become a real thorn in her side. She refuses to acknowledge the unexpected spark between them whenever he’s around and tries her best to work with him in order to find this brutal killer at large. Jacob Trent is no ordinary police officer, he’s Aramael, an angel and hunter in disguise in search of his fallen brother Caim, who he long ago punished severely and is now back with a vengeance. To find his brother, Aramael must join forces with Alex, against his will, knowing her ancestry is detrimental to his mission, his very being and possibly the fate of the world.

This book combines urban fantasy with the darkness of a thriller beautifully. Alex is a ballsy homicide detective who endures the gruesome side of humanity on a daily basis. She’s a strong and independent woman who’s experienced darkness in her past but has had the strength to persevere. Her character is powerful and she’s the perfect leading lady for this story.

The constant battling between Alex and Aramael keeps you interested in these two characters and just adds to their sexual tension. There are times when I found myself thinking: “Just kiss already!,” but one of the best aspects of this story is the heightened chemistry between the characters and the lack of romance (as a Paranormal Romance lover I can’t believe I just said that)! Alex is a magnificent heroine with a “real” perspective of life, mainly due to her occupation, her reactions to the new paranormal world she’s thrown into are completely justified and I love that she isn’t complacent with the situations that arise.

Aramael is somewhat of an enigmatic character. He’s a tortured hero battling against evil and dealing with his personal “demons” who’s allure is undeniable. It’s difficult not to fall in love with this dark and brooding angel with a chip on his shoulder! I can only describe the pairing of Alex and Aramael as Heavenly!

Sins of the Angels is a gritty thriller that will keep you on the edge of the seat and up all night! Most books in the Urban Fantasy genre take place in large US cities like Chicago, Los Angeles or New York, but I found the author’s choice of Toronto, Canada, unique and applaud her on originality. The world building in Sins of the Angels is seductive and emphasizes the paranormal and not the usual religious connotations associated with angels, these beings are powerful warriors not the sweet heavenly guardian angels we’re used to! Alex and Aramael’s story will lure you with its complex characters, ever present suspense and brilliant execution that leave you eagerly anticipating the next installment in this new breathtaking series!
