Name 5 things your readers would be surprised to learn about you?
Let me think…
1. According to my husband and most men at his command, I make some kick a** chili
2. I own every Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers films
3. At my wedding, I walked down the isle to the Godfather Love Song
4. I love Formula One racing and UFC (Georges St-Pierre!)
5. Though I live in Southern California, I’m a Green Bay fan – have been since my mom brought home a foam cheese head hat when I was 7 or 8. She had gone on a business.
I too share your love of vampires! Did you struggle with making this popular paranormal creature your own while writing your books?
Well, my ideas just pop in my head…not exactly sure where they come from…the imagination fairy maybe. (shrug) The beauty of paranormal creatures is that, the writer can do almost anything with them.
Your first book, Caressed by Moonlight is more of a Historical Paranormal Romance, while Caressed by Night takes place hundreds of years later, what made you bring the Rulers of Darkness into present time?
I thought about having Caressed by Night be a historical, but what I have planed, it was better to go this route. In the next book, the past 200 years will be discussed more, since things took place that will affect what will happen now.
Who is your favorite hero in the series so far and why?
So far, I would was Dimitri because he is just so…brooding, blond, and yummy.
Which type of characters is harder to bring to life in your experience, the likeable heroines, the detestable villains or the alpha heroes?
Creating characters is easy and I try to build their world around them. What is the most difficult, for me, is trying to make them all different: personalities, their challenges, their emotions, etc. I want my characters to stand out, not only from each other, but also from other characters created by fellow authors. The characters, their stories, and their world has to be memorable and enjoyable.
Can we expect to see any other supernatural creatures make an appearance in the Rulers of Darkness series?
In this series, there are vampires, witches, and shape-shifters. However, the latter has been mention in the first two books, but the shape-shifters will come to the forefront in book 3, Caressed by a Crimson Moon. Spoiler: the leading lady will be a half-breed shape-shifter.
Can you give a sneak peek of what we can expect in the next installment of the Rulers of Darkness series?
I have been dying to share info on the third book, though I have been waiting for people to read the second before I let the secrets slip. Well, I already said that the leading lady, Eva, will be a half-breed shape-shifter. Who will be the hero…or rather the tortured vampire hottie? Hadrian Lucretius! Yep, the “mad king” who exiled himself has come back.
The third book will have a lot happening, not only between the main characters, but the side characters. The remaining romance stories to come will be step up and foreshadowed. I’m so excited!
If you had to compare your books to another series, which series would you choose?
Wow! Um…I don’t know who I would compare myself to…I would not say Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series or J.R. Ward’s BDB series…but I would say my work can be considered similar. I would love to one day be listed along with those I have mentioned and other amazing authors.
What book or books are currently on your nightstand?
Kresley Cole: Hunger Like No Other (rereading)
J.R. Ward: Lover Eternal (rereading)
Jane Jameson: Nice Girls Don’t Have Fangs (waiting to be started)
Is there anything else you’d like to share with your readers?
Thank you for your support and your continued interest in my series. I hope you that enjoy Caressed by Night and what is to come within the Rulers of Darkness series.
Just for fun:
All time favorite vampire movie?
Love the Underworld Movies (Kate Beckinsale is so hot lol)
If you were stranded on a deserted island and could only pick one person, who would you want for company?
Rehvenge….sigh…if only he were real…
What’s your current guilty pleasure?
Zours…I love my sour candy!
Morning person or night owl?
I’m a night owl for sure. I don’t go to sleep until 2 or 3…or later.
Coffee or tea?
Love both but I prefer coffee.
Amanda, you’re my kind of girl, I would choose Rehvenge too! Thank you so much for taking the time to my questions and congratulations on the release of Caressed by Night! I’m anxiously awaiting the next book!
