by Jennifer Estep

Today I have the fabulous Jennifer Estep joining me for a quick Q&A on all things Gin Blanco, oh and there’s also a giveaway so stick around…and Happy Monday 😉

Welcome to Romancing the Dark Side Jennifer, I’m so excited to have you stop by! *total fan-girl moment right now *

Let’s get right to it…

RtDS: What inspired you to write your first book?

JE: Well, my mom used to take me to the library every Saturday when I was a kid, so that’s how I fell in love with reading and books in the first place. Somewhere along the way, I thought it would be fun to write my own book with my own characters and tell the story that I wanted to tell. So I sat down and wrote my first book one summer while I was in college. I’ve been writing ever since.

RtDS: Give us three (3) quick facts about your heroine Gin Blanco that may surprise readers.

JE: Gin loves football, dogs, and action movies.

RtDS: Who is your favorite supporting character to write in the Elemental Assassin series (yes, you have to choose one!)?

JE: Of course, I love writing about Gin, but if I had to choose a supporting character, I would have to go with Finnegan Lane, Gin’s foster brother. Finn is a greedy, shameless womanizer who always says exactly what is on his mind, no matter how outrageous it might be. He’s a really fun character for me to write.

RtDS: What’s your current guilty pleasure when you’re not busy writing?

JE: A few months ago, my significant other bought me the first season of Strike Back on DVD. It’s a really cool action/adventure/military thriller show. I’ve watched the first two seasons, and I’m waiting for the third season to come out on DVD.

RtDS: Finish this sentence using as much or little detail as possible: The Elemental Assassin series will appeal to readers who…

JE: Like a little bit of everything in their books – action, adventure, danger, magic, and romance.

RtDS: Jennifer, it was a pleasure to have you on the blog today, feel free to stop by again! <3

JE: Thanks for hosting me on your blog. I appreciate it. Happy reading, everyone!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

I did not realize Gin liked dogs! Now I’m going to have to re-read my books, looking for clues, lol.

  2. Jen Montgomery

I love Gin. She really is kick butt woman with a big heart. She is also very loyal. If i had to pick my favorite secondary character it would be Fin also.I can’t wait to read more of them..

  3. Viki S.

This is the tenth book in the series – did you plan it out this way from the start?

  4. Rebe — Thanks! Yep, I would say Gin is a dog person more than a cat person.

Viki — Thanks! No, I didn’t. I knew I wanted the initial story arc to be five books or so, but I’ve had a lot of fun writing about Gin.

Texas Book Lover — Thanks! I would say something like The Princess Bride because it has humor, action, and lots of quotable lines.

  5. Lori Ha

This sounds like an awesome series. I can’t wait to get started. The books have been added to my tbr stack.
    Happy Holidays

I’m also surprised that Gin loves dogs 🙂 Hope to see one in her future. Love, love, love this series! Thanks for sharing! Happy Holidays!

  7. Latisha Bramlett

I can see where Gin would love dogs…football, on the other hand, surprises me.

  8. Sherry

EKKK!!!!!!!!! I can’t wait for the Spider to come out! I didn’t make a decision to buy it on opening day so I would love to try to win a copy!~

  9. Chris Bails

Wow, 10 books. Love series and about 1/2 way with this one. I need to catch up. Are you planning more books for this series? Do you have any new series in the works?

  10. Stephanie F.

Learned some thing about Gin I didn’t know. I love the series and Gin is one of my favorite book heroines. I’d could see Gin picking up a cute stray puppy in an alley and him being her sidekick, hehe.

  11. Ailsa Richardson

hi I’m really excited about reading this series, I have been recommended this several times and santa is bringing me them!

  12. Great interview. It was Harry Dresden that lead me to the world of Urban Fantasy and the next book series I fell in love with was Elemental Assassin. Once I read Spider’s Bite I was hooked on the Gin Blanco and her fascinating world of magic, crime and crooked cops and expertly prepared food. I can’t get enough of this character and would love it is one of the cable channels picked it up for a series.

  13. Jen — Thanks! Glad you are enjoying the series. Sometimes, I think Finn is more popular than Gin is. LOL.

Lori — Thanks! Hope you get a chance to check out the series.

Erinf1 — Thanks! Glad you are enjoying the series. Happy holidays!

Misty — Thanks! Glad you are enjoying the series.

Latisha — Thanks! Football has a lot of action. I would say that’s one of the reasons that Gin likes it.

Elizabeth — Thanks! Glad you are enjoying the series.

Susan — Thanks! Glad you are enjoying the series.

Stephanie — Thanks! Glad you are enjoying the series.

  14. I read the first book and was completely hooked. This will definitely be a series for me to complete in 2014. Excellent Interview ladies!

Hope you had a merry christmas Lori 🙂
