Kit Colbana is always biting off more than she can chew. She has a knack for finding trouble. This time, though, trouble finds her. Someone from her past drops a case into her lap that she just can’t refuse...literally.
People on the Council are dying left and right and she’s been requested to investigate the deaths. The number one suspect? Her lover, Damon. If she doesn't clear his name, he gets a death sentence. Even if she succeeds? They still might try to execute him. Oh, and she’s not allowed to tell him about the case, either.
The stakes are high this time around, higher than they've ever been. Kit may be forced to pay the ultimate price to save her lover’s life...a price that could destroy her and everything she loves.
J.C. Daniels left me with my heart in my hand!
NIGHT BLADE continues the story of Kit Colbana who can’t seem to stay out of trouble! When various Council members are murdered, a face from the past comes back to Kit, requesting her help with the investigation. Her relationship with the Alpha Damon is going strong and business is good, until now. Kit wants nothing to do with her ex-lover Justin but when he names Damon, her new love as the number one suspect, she’s forced to work with him in order to save the man she loves from a death sentence.
Kit Colbana became an instant favorite heroine of mine in Blade Song and continues impressing me with this installment. She’s not one of those perfect heroines with extraordinary supernatural abilities but can still hold her own with the Mercy Thompsons and Gin Blancos of the world. Kit is no stranger to pain and suffering but I really wanted to just give her a hug while reading NIGHT BLADE. She’s just trying to find happiness and the second it’s in her grasp it’s gone.
Even though she’s not a shifter, Kit definitely has nine lives. She faces rejection from Damon’s pack, is attacked by werewolves, takes on a vengeful witch and is captured by an old vampire enemy. All through this her number one priority is to save the man she loves…you gotta love her for that. To make things worse, Kit learns the person who’s made her suffer the most, View Spoiler » the girl can’t catch a break!
NIGHT BLADE is another action packed installment to the Colbana Files that keeps you on the edge of your seat. J.C. Daniels isn’t afraid to make her heroines suffer and rip the hearts out of her readers! The stakes are higher for Kit this time around and I can’t help but root for her more than ever after the emotional roller coaster she gave me. I still need a day or two to recover from this ending…
I needed a few recovery days after this one too 😉 Glad you liked it!
The ending was brutal but I knew it was going to be a tough ride for Kit when I started this series!
I love this series so much. I wish Shiloh Walker would take more time off from that name to spend more time on this one. Not that I don’t like her Shiloh stuff, I just like this better. 🙂 This world reminds me a lot of Kate Daniels, but still different enough to be interesting. Can’t wait for the next book.
This is actually my first series by the author so I have nothing to compare it to. I do like the uniqueness of these books and will definitely continue reading about Kit and Damon! 🙂
Great review Lori! I think I really going to love the heroine for the same reasons you do. This series is at the top on my TBR to wait for the audio, I go and check every week to see if they published it..LOL
I have book 1. I need to move it up my TBR pile. Maybe when I get back on an UF kick I’ll read it.
They’re short reads so you’ll breeze right through them!
I love heroines like this! I haven’t actually heard of this series (at least that I can recall) but I need to hurry up and get to it. I kinda love the covers too. Thanks for the great review Lori!
Kit is great! Hope you enjoy them, they’re pretty quick reads 🙂
Great review Lori, I will have to try the first book again.
