Character Interview with Ayden…and the Hex Boys from the Divinicus Nex Chronicles
LORI: Give us three interesting facts about you.
AYDEN: I use my supernatural powers to hunt demons, Iām a great ballroom dancer, and in order to keep her safe, Iām hiding a certain redhead named Aurora from the secret society I work for. Which could get me killed, or at least branded as a traitor andā¦severely punished. But sheās worth it.
LORI: Tell me about the place where you live.
AYDEN: Gossamer Falls is a mountain town above Los Angeles. It got its name from the near constant fog and mist that covers the town. Weāve got a big lake, gorges, rivers, and amazing waterfalls.
BLAKE: With a secret cave behind one of the waterfalls that leads toā
AYDEN: *jumps up and slaps hand over Blakeās mouth* Something we donāt talk about! What are you doing here?!
BLAKE: Seriously? Romancing the Dark Side? That has my name all over it. And Lori wants me all over her. Right, beautilicious babe?
AYDEN: Donāt encourage him.
LORI: Who is your best friend in the world and what is he/she like?
BLAKE: Itās me.
AYDEN: No.
BLAKE: Thatās fine because Loriās my best friend. Got to be friends before lovers, right?
AYDEN: *cringes* I knew you were going to embarrass me. All the guys are my best friends. Except Blake right now. But my brother, Jayden, is my best, best friend.
BLAKE: Ouch. I speak for the other guys when I say that is deeply hurtful to hear. But Iāll keep your secret if you disappear so Lori and I can get some time alone together.
AYDEN: Between the two of us, itās not you she wants time alone with. *winks at Lori*
BLAKE: Are you flirting? You canāt flirt! Thatās my intrusive territory.
AYDEN: You mean exclusive.
BLAKE: That too.
AYDEN: Although you are intrusive.
BLAKE: Told ya so.
LORI: What do you consider your special talent?
AYDEN: Being smokinā hot.
BLAKE: This again? Are you ever going to let that go?
AYDEN: Fine. Special talent? Understanding what Auroraās thinking even before she does.
BLAKE: Fair enough.
AYDEN: And knowing that whatever sheās planning is going to be a disaster.
LORI: Describe yourself to me in 140 characters or less.
BLAKE: Iāll do it for him. Goofy, Dumboā
AYDEN: What are you talking about?
BLAKE: Iām describing you in fictional characters. Duh. Oh, Dopey, too. But I donāt think I can come up with one hundred forty and yours are all lame anyway. Now for me, we can go with Superman, James Bond, Mr. Darcyā
AYDEN: Not those kind of characters. Whoās Dopey now? *smiles at Lori* Letās go with: A demonās worst nightmare and a girlās hottest dream.
BLAKE: Gross! Iām gonna be sick. Next question already.
LORI: Whatās your biggest fear? You donāt have to answer this one if you donāt want toā¦
AYDEN: Aurora or the guys dying in the midst of this chaos.
BLAKE: *gathers Ayden into hug* Iād be lost without you too, dude.
AYDEN: *squirming* Get off! I never said that.
LORI: If you had a day to do anything you wanted, what would you do?
BLAKE: Spend every moment with you! Lori, please be mine!
AYDEN: Blake, please get real. *shakes head* Anything? Iād go to Disneyland with family and friends. Even idiot Blake. Sounds lame but we never went because my parents were too scared that weād attract demons and endanger people. Honestly, it wouldnāt matter so much what I did, but that I could do it without looking over my shoulder or worrying about anticipating danger and demons around every corner. I guess Iād just love a day off demon duty.
LORI: What three things would you take to a Desert Island?
BLAKE: I just need a hot lady I adore, and Lori youāre my number one choice!
AYDEN: *snorts* For today. Iād be more inclined to take a working satellite phone, drinking water, and a knife.
BLAKE: Not Aurora? Babeās gonna totally be Team Blake after she hears that.
AYDEN: Auroraās going to stay Team Ayden when she hears I wanted her safe at home instead of marooned on an island.
LORI: Quick, you get one wishā¦What did you just wish for? Itās alright, you can tell meā¦
BLAKE: Lori to be my girlfriend. Did it work?! *moves toward Lori* Maybe itās like Aladdinās lamp and I need to rubā
AYDEN: Hands off! *shoves Blake aside* I wish Aurora was safe from the society forever.
Matthias: *steps in with other Hex Boys* Really, mate? Because Iām thinking you wished for back-up.
AYDEN: Second on my list. *sighs with relief* Thanks. He was getting out of hand.
BLAKE: Aw come on, guys! Let me have one gorgeous gal!
LOGAN: Not a chance.
TRISTAN: Yeah. We like Lori too much.
LORI: Anything else you feel like sharing?
BLAKE: My heart! My soul! My life! Lori, take me, Iām yours!
AYDEN: Oh my God. *rolls eyes* Grab him.
JAYDEN: Yes, his prolix sycophancy prolific with plaudits seems to be straddling past cultural acceptance into the audacious. His behavior could besmirch our public esteem.
MATTHIAS: *rubs his temples* Ayden, translation?
AYDEN: Blakeās acting like a lovesick idiot and could make us look bad.
TRISTAN: What else is new? We should go before it gets worse.
