Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux and her lover, the lethally beautiful archangel Raphael, have returned home to New York only to face an uncompromising new evil…
A vampire has attacked a girls’ school—the assault one of sheer, vicious madness—and it is only the first act. Rampant bloodlust takes vampire after vampire, threatening to make the streets run with blood. Then Raphael himself begins to show signs of an uncontrolled rage, as inexplicable storms darken the city skyline and the earth itself shudders. The omens are suddenly terrifyingly clear.
An ancient and malevolent immortal is rising. The violent winds whisper her name: Caliane. She has returned to reclaim her son, Raphael. Only one thing stands in her way: Elena, the consort who must be destroyed…
Elena and Raphael are truly a match made in heaven! Their relationship is really explored this time around and you get to see how much these two warriors have changed in the name of love. I couldn’t get enough of their passionate love scenes!
Being a newly made angel, Elena’s vulnerability and need for constant vigilance from Raphael’s Seven was a bit frustrating for me. I miss the warrior heroine I grew to love in Angel’s Blood and sometimes feel she’s more of a liability as an angel than she was as a human!
As much as I enjoyed this one, it didn’t grab me like the previous books in the series, I felt it lacked the intensity of the previous books. This story was a bit slower but did pick up near the end. I’m hoping the next book brings back the action and suspense that made this one of my favorite series!
