For the Venia Law Keeper, Marise, returning home isn’t something she wants to do, but duty dictates that she must answer Lord Timur’s call for assistance and investigate the attempt on his life by a vampire. Faced with her old home, she tries hard to suppress the memories it evokes, of happier times in the arms of her ex-lover, Jascha, and of the darker times with him that led to her leaving.

She puts the atmosphere and looks she receives down to fear from the attempt to kill Timur, but when she lays eyes on her lord, she realises that it may be for another reason and that the attacker may not have been a vampire after all. Left with only one other source of information, a guard injured in the attack to a point beyond recovery and left to remain awaiting death, she decides to question him before he dies and then get the hell out of there.

Only when she sees that the dying guard is Jascha, she begins a battle with her heart that will see her struggle to turn her back on Jascha and her family again, and maintain her sense of duty. Is fifty years enough to forgive the one you love for breaking your heart? Will Marise finally confess to everything she’s held inside and kept hidden from him? And can Jascha convince Marise to listen to what he has to say and make her love him again?

An intriguing new world of vampires!

Marise, a vampire and Law Keeper of Venice has been called to her old home to investigate an attempted assassination on Timur, the lord of her bloodline. When Marise arrives she finds that Timur and his guards have been savagely beaten and realizes they might be dealing with a new and powerful enemy. Trying to get some answers she focuses on interrogating the attacked guard who barely escaped his death rather than deal with the memories of her old life and home. Marise soon finds out that the brutally beaten guard is none other than Jascha, her former lover and true love. With her feelings for Jascha resurfacing and an evolving threat to her race, Marise is faced with choosing to fulfill her duties as the Viena Law Keeper or having a second chance with the man she loves.

This is a great short story of love and forgiveness. The characters do a great job of bringing you into their world and thoughts. There’s a great balance of action and romance which is constant throughout the story keeping you interested from beginning to end. The heroine has the best of both worlds, she’s tough and independent but also has that vulnerability when it comes to matters of the heart, even if she doesn’t always show it. What I enjoyed most about Reunion is the change in the typical storyline of hero saves the heroine, it’s quite the opposite in this story and I loved every minute of it…you have to love a book where the heroine is in charge the entire time!

A thrilling combination of action, romance, secrets and hot sex make this one worthy of adding to your reading lists!

*This book is part of a series but can definitely be read as a stand-alone with ease.
