Children are missing. The police are stumped.
Halloween is coming, with an ancient evil on the horizon.
The vampires are the good guys.
This is not your ordinary fall weekend in Charlotte, NC. Vampire private detectives Jimmy Black and Greg Knightwood have been hired to keep a young client from being cursed for all eternity, but end up in a bigger mess than they ever imagined.
Suddenly trapped in the middle of a serial kidnapping case, Jimmy and Greg uncover a plot to bring forth an ancient evil into the world, and enlist the help of a police detective, a priest, a witch, a fallen angel and strip club proprietor to save the world. This unlikely band of heroes battles zombies, witches, neuroses and sunburn while cracking jokes and looking for the perfect bag of O-negative.

A pleasant surprise from the usual dark, sexy, brooding vampires!
Jimmy Black and Greg Knightwood are not your usual private investigators, they also happen to be vampires and best friends. When Jimmy is kidnapped by a young teen seeking his help from a witch’s curse, he and Greg find themselves on a new case. They soon learn they are not just up against a single young witch, but a darker and more sinister plot to unleash evil…for this battle they will have to enlist some very unlikely allies!
“We’re the good guys. Like Batman, only with dietary restrictions.”
This is a a fun and humorous look into the world of the supernatural. There are no drop dead gorgeous vampires that sparkle or make the ladies swoon here! Jimmy and Greg are two ordinary looking guys who were nerds during their mortal lives and now get the last laugh by achieving immortality. Their sarcasm and perfect one-liners make for an entertaining read but there’s still plenty of mystery and danger to keep it interesting. Incorporating a human detective, a priest, a witch and fallen angel into the story is shear genius, each character brings a star quality personality and you can’t help but love them all!
“I don’t sparkle, I’m no more perpetually horny than anyone (or anything) else, and I don’t use my vampire powers to get laid.”
“I was too busy trying to figure out how not to get ripped to pieces by the My Little Pony Brigade.”
HARD DAY’S KNIGHT is not your usual dark vampire tale, it’s a light hearted urban fantasy filled with action and all sorts of creatures of the night! The writing is fresh and smart with great character development and humor that will have you laughing from beginning to end. This is a feel good read with tons of personality, intrigue and even a smidgen of romance. John Hartness flawlessly combines an amusing and dangerous story of good versus evil where the underdogs are the true heroes. If you love your urban fantasy and vampires with a bit of humor I’d highly recommend putting this book on your wish list!
Thanks so much for hosting a stop on my blog tour and for the kind words in your review. I’m glad you enjoyed Hard Day’s Knight and hope you’ll hang out with me for the rest of the series!
