Third-generation funeral director Lizzie Morton is about to have her dream realized. She has purchased the long abandoned Nichols Funeral Home and its upstairs flat, determined to restore the funeral home to its once former glory.

But a late night visitor, Adam Nichols, claims the funeral home still belongs to his family.

Lizzie scoffs at his odd behavior and outlandish claims, but when a vintage photograph appears, she soon realizes, to her horror, that Adam Nichols did once own the funeral home more than one hundred years ago and now she has allowed this entity to pass into her home.

An enchanting start with great potential!

Lizzie Morton has recently purchased the charming and uninhabited Nichols Funeral Home and plans on “bringing it back to life.” When a handsome stranger shows up on her doorstep, claiming to still own her funeral home, Lizzie doesn’t know what to think of this mysterious occurrence. She lets Adam Nichols into her home and soon discovers proof that he is indeed telling her the truth, a truth that comes in the form of a photograph. As if that weren’t enough, she gets an even greater surprise when she sees that photograph’s date. Not one to believe in ghosts, Lizzie is faced with accepting Adam’s truth while trying to deny how she feels around his welcoming presence.

This was an intriguing short story that reads like a prologue to what could be a full length paranormal novel. While it’s too short for my taste, this mini-novella shows great potential with fluid writing and an interesting premise. The characters are introduced too briefly to fully connect with, but capture your attention in those few pages nonetheless. It would be great to see this story develop into a full length book and explore the plot and characters on a deeper level.  ANTIQUE CHARMING is a wonderful teaser with paranormal elements and a budding romance that will leave you wanting more!
