First I’d like to thank Romancing The Darkside for hosting this stop on my blog tour. I appreciate being able to connect with your readers and tell them about A Vampire’s Deadly Delight.
In getting ready for this blog tour, I took a look around all the sites that are hosting me. When I got to this site, the headline for the current post was “Sexy Snippets”. Wow. That’s only a little intimidating.
See, I’m a PG gal who happened to write an R-rated book. I mean, in my day job, I’m a nurse, and I’ve got kids in middle school and I sing at my church. I’ve been married a loooonnggg time, and I get to turn fifty in a couple months. Middle-aged Moms like me don’t spend much time on websites like this.
Or maybe they do and they just don’t talk about it. That’s what I was taught in school: those who talk about it don’t do it. Because of that, I find writing about sex to be darned hard. I mean, if I’m writing about it, doesn’t that mean I’m not getting any?
Heh. I’ll leave that to your imagination. So far the reviews of A Vampire’s Deadly Delight have all called it a sexy read, and it is, to a point. The stuff is there, but not in any detail. I’d chew off my fingers before I’d type the word cli_oris in public. The most anatomically graphic I get is to refer to one of the male character’s pecker. I just don’t have it in me. Literally.
There isn’t much lascivious sensuality, either, but there are quite a few good one-liners. I believe in letting the reader supply their own background music, if you will. I may enjoy reading a detailed description of an orgasm – if it’s well done – but I’d blush myself to death trying to write one. As in anything else in life, you need to know your strengths, and that kind of writing just isn’t in me.
My fourteen year old daughter is pretty disappointed that I won’t let her read Deadly Delight. Sorry kid. It would make your mother blush to think that you knew that I knew about such things. Must be a generational thing. Maybe when she’s thirty she can read it. In the meantime, you can check out the synopsis and see what you think. There’s a good story and a lot of fun, in addition to the naughty bits. Thanks for reading along.
Peace,
Liv
About the Author:
Liv Rancourt is a writer of speculative fiction and romance. She lives in Seattle with her husband, two teenagers, two cats and one wayward puppy. Writing stories that have happy endings is a good way to balance her work in the neonatal intensive care unit, and she is thrilled to be publishing her first novella with Black Opal Books.
Liv can be found on-line at her website (www.livrancourt.com), her blog (www.liv-rancourt.blogspot.com), on Facebook (www.facebook.com/liv.rancourt), or on Twitter (www.twitter.com/LivRancourt).
Kristen has a deadly secret—when she smells a vampire, she turns into Jai, a beauti-licious babe who makes vamps permanently dead. To a vamp, Jai is like ambrosia. They can’t resist her. She uses this attraction, plus her super strength and her trusty blade, Mr. Sticky, to end their undead lives. The thrill of wearing miniskirts without worrying about cellulite stifles any qualms Kristen might have about killing the undead. Being Jai is the most fun she has ever had—until they come up against the one vampire Jai can’t kill. If he and Jai have a history, as he claims, Jai can’t remember it…or him.
But when her work catches the attention of some old enemies—who won’t hesitate to destroy Kristen if it also means the end of Jai—this vampire may be their only hope. Can Kristen and Jai learn to tell the difference between good and evil in time to defeat Jai’s ancient nemesis? Or will being Jai’s hostess cost Kristen more than just a little sleep?

There are a lot of books I read with forbidden couples. I love stories like that. The first one that pops up is Barron and Mac in the fever series. Next would be Shadow of the Vampire by Meagen Hatfield. Declan was a dragon and she was a vampire. I love seeing how they make it work. Thanks for the chance to win.

Thanks Tanya, for checking out my post. I love Barron and Mac, too, and now will take a look for Shadow of a Vampire. Good luck with the giveaway!

Liv
Tynan & Lily (Vampire Assassin & his intended victim) from Dark Awakening by Kendra Leigh Castle, Anita Blake & Jean Claude…
elizabeth @ bookattict . com
Hey BookAttict – Nice to see you here and on Twitter too! I haven’t read Dark Awakening, but Anita and JC are two of my all-time favorites. I’m a total LKH addict…just can’t write that stuff like she can.
😉
Liv
My favorite forbidden couple is Sookie and Eric. They just never get a break and I think he could be really good for her 🙂 Thanks for the fun!
Butch and Marissa from J.R. Ward’s Brotherhood of the Black Dagger series. He was originally human and Marissa was supposed to service or mate with one of the Brotherhood.

Tynan & Lily (Vampire Assassin & his intended victim) from Dark Awakening. Very good.

Okay that’s two votes for Dark Awakening. I’m on my way to Amazon to send a sample to my Kindle. And JR Ward has been on my TBR list for a while. Thanks Anne & PTDruid, for checking out my post!
Peace,
Liv
Hm.. well my original forbidden romance couple would have to be Buffy and Angel. I loved them together. But I also loved Buffy and Spike too. 🙂 Thanks for the awesome contest!

Oooh, it didn’t take my last comment…trying again…
So that’s two votes for Dark Awakening…the sample was just sent to my kindle. And JR Ward has been on my TBR list for a while. And they don’t get much more forbidden than Angel & Buffy, especially season 3 after Angel came back from hell…or limbo, or wherever she’s sent him.
Thanks to all of you for checking out my post. Good luck in the contest!
Liv
Dark Awakening was great, so was the sequel, Dark Reckoning (just finished it a little while ago). Liv you MUST read The Black Dagger Brotherhood…lots of forbidden romance and steamy scenes that will definitely have you blushing, to say the least!!
‘kay, Lori, just sent a sample of Dark Lover (book 1) to my kindle….which is my code for ‘remember to get a copy of THIS one!’
Thanks!
My favorite forbidden couple is Buffy and Angel from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I always thought they belonged together. Tore923@aol.com
I loved Buffy and Angel when they were together, but I always thought that when Buffy grew up (when her cookies were baked, or whatever) that she’d look for someone like the man Wesley grew into by about the middle of the Angel series. Someone who knew about the dark side of things but was also human. Any takers on that one?
😉
Liv
I agree with another commenter – Angel and Buffy. It could also be Buffy and Spike, but Angel is the one because not only was a Buffy a slayer, but he could not experience, well, you know IT or he’ll turn “bitey” Grrr.

Trying this again..(the floaty hearts are cute, but screwing with loading this page!)
I’m all about Angel and Buffy, too..much more than Spike, though I loved how hot things got with Buffy. But, Angel? I mean, they were forbidden, not only because she was a slayer, but Angel would go all “bitey” if he ever experienced “IT.” They were only able to be together, together during the day that Angel had have erased for the greater good. That still makes me get all misty!

It says I left a comment, but I don’t see it here, perhaps it did not take LOL If this is a duplicate I apologize 🙂 I have to say Liv that I have had those moments where I will quickly switch screens when someone comes in the room and I remember raving about a favorite book series that my son asked to read and I was forced to ask him to please wait a few years LOL We must keep our images you know :)Thank you for the opportunity to win what sounds like a very fun read.
I Will Remember You is SUCH an awesome Angel episode – one of those I don’t know if I’ll watch again cuz it makes me too emotional. Thanks, MJB. You make a strong case for Buffy & Angel as winners in the ‘forbidden lovers’ contest.
And Denise, I’m not really sure my kids will EVER be old enough to read this book without making me blush! Thanks both of you for checking out the post, and good luck with the contest.
Liv
I loved Buffy and Angel but I think that Bella and Z from JR Ward wins it for me!
And thanks to all of the lovely people who commented on my post, I’ve got JR Ward tee’ed up at the top of the TBR list.
Thanks!
