A simple mission turned deadly.
Nineteen-year-old vampire Dawn has led a sheltered life within the confines of her father's presidential headquarters. Upon being sent on a mission to revamp four goofy misfits into guardians of a peaceful little town of Angel Creek, Dawn believes that all her dreams have finally come true.
What starts off as a simple task, turns into something unexpected, changing Dawn's life forever and leading the action-loving, thrill-seeking vampire teen on a path of mystery, danger and intrigue. When a human girl is kidnapped by a group of rogue vamps, Dawn discovers that there is more going on in Angel Creek than meets the eye. And it all connects to Ethan, the cute newcomer who seems too perfect to be true, Sebastian, the mysterious vampire with a turbulent past, and even Dawn herself. Dawn must not only succeed in revamping the troubled recruits, but must also prevent the vampire race from being overtaken by a malevolent villain who has a strange and obsessive fascination with her. As threat escalates, romance blooms, and ghosts from her past begin to surface, Dawn is sure of only one thing: her life will never be the same.
Ada Adams has ReVamped the vampire myth with a stellar debut novel!
In a world of vampire protectors and politics, nineteen-year old Dawn, only daughter of the Vampire President, has lived a life of seclusion and intense combat training. Her dream is to put her training to use by partaking in a mission. When her father requests her help with seeking a team of guardians to protect the small town of Angel Creek, Dawn eagerly accepts the mission. Finding the four future guardians to train is no easy task, especially when the four vampires you are given to train seem to need a babysitter! Dawn gets more than she bargained for when strange events in Angel Creek begin to unfold. The handsome and charming human Ethan seems to be hiding a secret and the dark and she can’t understand the affect that the mysterious vampire Sebastian has on her. The mission takes a turn for the worse when a human is kidnapped and Dawn, along with her team must rescue her. What Dawn soon uncovers at Angel Creek will test her strengths and alter her life forever.
“What? Obsolete? I don’t want to be obsolete!” “That’s like really fat, right?” ~ Brooke
I tend to shy away from young adult paranormal novels because while I love reading the innocent romance portrayed, the characters sometimes lack the depth that draws you in but REVAMPED proves not all YA books are alike! Dawn is a powerful heroine who is far beyond her nineteen years, probably due to her upbringing but admirable nonetheless. She shows her strength throughout the story and her vulnerability when it comes to love, as expected for her age. Her character is so well developed and multi-faceted, she could have easily been a female protagonist in an adult paranormal romance/urban fantasy novel.
“I know you’re from the old-fashioned time of chivalry and valor, but I’m a modern girl–a touch vampire chick. I can take care of myself.” ~ Dawn
Dawn’s love interests, Ethan and Sebastian are both dreamy and make it hard for a girl to choose one! Ethan is the suave and sexy savior, while Sebastian is the dark and intriguing “bad boy” with a sweet side you know you should say no to but can’t help falling for. They each add a touch of mystery and romantic tension that keeps you guessing and wanting to trade places with Dawn! Ethan being a human and Sebastian being a vampire make the love triangle that more exciting. While these two are completely different, they each respect and genuinely care for Dawn and never compete with each other for her affection, they leave it all in her hands to decide which totally surprised me. I’d be torn between these loyal hotties too!
The world building Ms. Adams has achieved is truly original. Vampire in partaking in politics, reality TV, and commercial vampire drinks make the dark, lonely and mysterious vampire a thing of the past. The best new take on the vampire myth by far is her use of garlic, a once deadly weapon to a vampire, as a source of protection from sunlight…brilliant! Not all vampires are the protector of humans, we see some rogue vampires that are predators which creates the balance of good and evil.
REVAMPED is a fast-paced thrill ride with secrets, humor, romance and unexpected twists and turns! You’ll instantly connect with the unique characters and experience each emotion they emit while reading their story. The mystery and romance are enough to keep you on edge with each turn of the page. It’s beautifully written, creative and has plenty of substance, this isn’t just another gorgeous cover…its so much more!
I love Tris in Divergent as she is vulnerable yet gutsy.
This sounds really good! 🙂
My fave YA heroine has to be Katniss from Hunger Games although Tris from Divergent is a very close second.
Hmm…. i think Katniss from Hunger Games.
I like Katniss from Hunger Games. She is very tough and strong. Tore923@aol.com
I don’t know if I have a YA heroine right now. I guess I would have to say. Anna from Anna Dressed in Blood but she is dead so I don’t know if that counts…
