Welcome to my stop on Lisa Kessler’s Night Demon Blog Tour! I had a chance to sit down and chat with Gretchen Finch, the book’s heroine and am sharing it with you today…enjoy!

Character Interview with Gretchen, heroine of Night Demon
Thanks for taking the time to chat with us Gretchen, welcome! * feel free to help yourself to the virtual tea and biscuits or coffee and cake (your choice of course) * Now that we’re settled, let’s get to the good stuff…
RtDS: Give us three interesting facts about you.
Gretchen: Hi Lori!  Thanks for having me here today.  So three interesting things… Hmmm. *presses her lips together thinking* I’m an archeologist specializing in translating Mayan glyphs. I’m actually a pretty good fisherman.  And I discovered Lukas has ticklish feet, but don’t tell him I told you… *grins*
RtDS: What is your author like?
Gretchen: Lisa is tough on us, and sometimes I worry we won’t make it to our happily ever after, but she always seems to get us there… eventually!
RtDS: Walk us through a day in your life.
Gretchen: Right now my schedule is flipped upside down. Being in a relationship with a Night Walker means I don’t want to miss a moment sleeping if I can help it, so I’ve been sleeping during the morning. We’re staying in San Diego right now, so I’m trying to rest up and drink in all the sunsets I can.

RtDS: If you had a day to do anything you wanted, what would you do?

Gretchen: It’s funny, a few months ago I would have said I’d want to tour the Mexican government’s Mayan relics. They have quite a collection that haven’t been studied yet. But now if I had a day to do anything I wanted I think it would be to head to the San Diego mountains, maybe to a little town like Julian and rent a cabin and hike with Lukas. We both enjoy the outdoors, and I really enjoy nudging him to tell me stories about himself as a boy.
RtDS: What is your most prized possession?
Gretchen: Hmm… I’m not really big on possessions. I think I’d have to say my memories of my Dad. Do you ever stop missing them? *blinks hard and sips her virtual tea*
RtDS: What’s your biggest fear? You don’t have to answer this one if you don’t want to…
Gretchen: *Sets her tea down, hand resting against her abdomen* I don’t think I should answer that, but it’s safe to say the fear is almost all-consuming these days.
RtDS: List three qualities your ideal mate must have.
Gretchen: He has to respect me and my work, but he also has to know how to distract me from my work… *little grin* And I love that he can make me laugh. I’m really lucky I found him.
RtDS: Staying on the subject, what is your biggest turnoff in a man?
Gretchen: A man who can’t see me as an equal. A man who lies. And a man who answers unforeseen circumstances with rage instead of a cool head.
RtDS: Quick, you get one wish…What would you just wish for? It’s alright, you can tell me…
Gretchen: I wish Lukas could be mortal again. I would give anything to give him the sunshine, even if it was just for one day.
RtDS: What motto do you live by?
Gretchen: Never stop searching for answers, they’re out there, we just have to keep reaching for them.
RtDS: Anything else you feel like sharing?
Gretchen: I think I’ll out my author, Lisa Kessler, one more time. She’s not a plotter when she writes, and when I showed up on the page, Lisa thought the Demon was going to kill me off right at the beginning, but I kept surviving and finally helped her to see I was the woman who could save Lukas. I’m really grateful I got to be the heroine in Night Demon! ☺
RtDS: Gretchen, it was a pleasure chatting with you today!
Gretchen: Thanks for the great interview, Lori!

Deep within the Yucatan jungle a demon has awakened…

Gretchen Finch’s job would be much easier if she weren’t alone in the jungle with a brilliant recluse whose every glance sets her on fire. But the more she focuses on her work, the closer she gets to unlocking the mysteries of a terrible creature – the Night Demon – that threatens the world as she knows it. Though her scientific mind tells her it’s impossible, she’s beginning to believe the ancient Mayan tales as the sinister jungle comes alive around her.

Lukas Smith has spent hundreds of years searching for answers to his immortal Night Walker nature. As a series of ancient glyphs become clear, he’s about to find out more than he’d ever hoped, but the more he learns, the more his fate intertwines with the Night Demon, and the harder it becomes to hide his immortal secret from the beautiful, intelligent Gretchen.

Together, they must find a way to stop the inexplicable violence and mass destruction surging across the earth before the Night Demon destroys more than just mankind.
