I’m super pleased to be hosting a stop on Tiffany Allee’s blog tour for her latest paranormal romance release, Don’t Bite the Bridesmaid (cute title, right?!) Today I’m sharing my fun interview with Tiffany, I have to admit she was a great sport! Learn more about this fun and flirty title and the awesome author behind it below 😉

RtDS: Welcome back to Romancing the Dark Side Tiffany! Great to have you here today to chat about Don’t Bite the Bridesmaid, the first installment in the Sons of Kane series.

TA: Thank you so much! I’m excited to be back!

RtDS: Give us three (3) facts about yourself that may surprise your readers.

TA: Oh goodness, I always have such a hard time answering this kind of question. I guess it might surprise readers to know that I grew up out in the country with horses and cows and chickens—although I’ve turned into a suburban gal. I am obsessed with The Princess Bride and Firefly (and most things Joss Whedon). And I think that half of the words in my books are typed around a cat trying to stretch across my keyboard.

RtDS: Describe your heroine, Alice in 140 characters or less.

TA: Alice is bubbly, bright, and full of optimism. She’s been hurt in the past by people she trusted, but she hasn’t let that jade her.

RtDS: I love the cover for Don’t Bite the Bridesmaid, its sexy, fun with a little paranormal twist. Would you say that’s a fair representation of the Sons of Kane series?

TA: Thank you so much! I love the cover too. I think that this cover is probably the perfect one for the book, and is very representative of the series as well. While the books are paranormal, they aren’t particularly dark. Don’t Bite the Bridesmaid is a lighthearted, sexy, and fun book where the paranormal elements take a backseat to the romance story. I think that the cover shows that well. While future books may delve a bit more into the vampire world than this book does, the general tone will be similar.

RtDS: Who is your favorite character in Don’t Bite the Bridesmaid?

TA: You don’t ask easy questions, do you? I love Alice and Noah—they are two of my favorite characters that I’ve ever written. But I also have a soft spot in my heart for Alice’s mother Edna, and her sister Cindy. Edna is fun and quirky, and Cindy is the kind of sister that we would all be so lucky to have.

RtDS: Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

TA: All of it! Ha-ha. For me, the hardest part is usually getting the initial draft down. Creating something from nothing. I’m so in love with what comes after. The revising, the editing—basically shaping it into the story that I envisioned. And while I love the first draft as well, I think it’s probably the most challenging part of the process for me.

RtDS: Your heroes are always swoon-worthy and easy to fall for. Is Noah the gentlemanly hero or is he the bad boy we can’t help but love?

TA: Oh, thank you. Noah is a gentlemanly hero for sure. That’s not to say he doesn’t have a little bit of an edge—he’s a vampire after all—but he is above all an honorable person who wants to do the right thing. He cares a lot about Alice and doesn’t want to see her hurt, and his heroic center is really what makes him irresistible to the heroine.

RtDS: What book is currently on your nightstand?

TA: There are so many books on my nightstand right now, virtual and physical. I have been working my way through all of the other Entangled Covet stories. Such a fun line full of great books! I’m getting ready to start Kristen Callihan’s latest in the Darkest London series, and I just started Margaret Atwood’s Cat’s Eye. I want to read all the things, and I want to read them right now. 😉

RtDS: Can you give us a little teaser of what’s next in the series?

TA: Sure! I can’t say too much yet, but I will say that the next story’s hero is Alex, Noah’s vampire brother. Alex has already been through a lot in his very long life, but nothing has prepared him for dealing with the book’s heroine. Or her dog.

RtDS: What is your #1 bookish pet peeve? {Writing or other}
TA: When the words don’t want to flow. 😉

RtDS: OK, here’s your last task…Finish this sentence using as much or little detail as possible: You’ll love Don’t Bite the Bridesmaid if….

TA: …you enjoy lighthearted romances with a dollop of humor, a touch of the paranormal, and a lot of heart.

JUST FOR FUN:

RtDS: Coffee or tea?
TA: Both! (I’m so with you!)

RtDS: Morning person or night owl?
TA: Night owl—no matter how hard I try to be a morning person.

RtDS: Beer or wine?
TA: Wine.

RtDS: Dean Winchester or Damon Salvatore?
TA: Dean Winchester of course! (I know I loved you for a reason!)

RtDS: You’re stranded on a deserted island and can pick one book and fictional character to spend the time with. Which book do you choose? Who would you want for company?
TA: One book? Are you trying to kill me? I would probably go with an old Mercedes Lackey Valdemar Omnibus—those were comfort books for me during my high school years. As for a fictional character, I would probably go with someone like Harry Dresden. Seems like a wizard might be able to get me home.

RtDS: Tiffany, it’s always a pleasure to chat with you…thanks for stopping by and come back soon!

TA: Thank you so much for having me!

ABOUT THE BOOK…

Alice Shepard needs one thing: a date for her sister’s wedding. And not just any date. A hunk who will make her fiancé rue the day he left her for her best friend. Her drop-dead gorgeous neighbor fits the bill—even if he is a bit quirky and never comes out during the day—and Alice has downed just enough appletinis to ask him. But she makes it quite clear that there will be no funny business.

Spending a week on a cruise ship full of humans while sleeping close to his sexy next-door neighbor sounds like a helluva bad idea to vampire Noah Thorpe. But his friends need time to get him out of a shotgun wedding—a vampire bonding that will tie his fate to a female vampire he’s never met. And Alice’s offer comes at just the right time.

What could possibly go wrong?

  1. I like the sound of this book, and the interview was great 😀 Love the part about the deserted island “One book? Are you trying to kill me?” YES, totally agree Waaay to hard to choose!

    • I actually have a blog post coming out at some point about the hazards we’ve seen lately in cruises. Makes cruising with a vampire sound a whole lot less dangerous. 😉

  2. I’m familiarizing myself with more authors and wondered if you have other series? Do you prefer series or do you particularly try to stay with one book and a big ending?

    • Hi Valerie! I also have the From the Files of the Otherworlder Enforcement Agency novella series, starting with Banshee Charmer. I do like to write books in a series because you get the chance to revisit favorite characters. But there’s also something to be said for a strong book that stands alone. 🙂

  3. I’ve never wanted to take a cruise because of a water issue but this sounds like a fun read. They’re stuck after all. How will they handle it?
