Welcome to my stop on The Seen Trilogy Book Tour via Tasty Book Tours. Today I’m hosting author Cynthia Sax who’s sharing a little about her new contemporary erotic series and writing romances. There’s also an awesome giveaway to enter!

Contemporary Erotic Romances
Cynthia Sax, Author of He Watches Me

He Watches Me, recently released from Avon Impulse, is my first published contemporary erotic romance. I’ve always written in this genre. The very first erotic romance I ever wrote was a contemporary (which did involve my favorite kinks – exhibitionism and voyeurism) but I didn’t have any of these stories published.

My contemporary erotic romances felt too real, too personal. I wrote these stories for me and didn’t submit them to publishers. It took a series of stories I absolutely love (He Watches Me, He Touches Me, and He Claims me) and my dream publisher (Avon Impulse) to coax me into sharing my contemporary erotic romances with the world.

I love the purity of contemporary erotic romances. There are no alien abductions or vampire-werewolf battles to the death. I don’t need to explain to reading buddies why there’s only one sun in the sky over LA or how an elevator works. We already know this.

Because contemporary erotic romances are set in today’s world and have human characters with our limitations and foibles, we concentrate on the romance, focusing on the two (or more) wonderfully unique characters.

And I think a strong contemporary erotic romance needs wonderfully unique characters. Yes, Blaine is a young, enigmatic billionaire CEO and Anna is a sexually inexperienced woman, but they are so much more than that. Anna is a secret exhibitionist. She meets Blaine when she skinny dips in his backyard pool. Blaine is a voyeur. He sits in the dark, smoking that horrible cigar of his, and he watches Anna’s antics. There are reasons why they choose these two kinks. There are reasons why they’re attracted to each other.

Another fun thing about writing contemporary erotic romances is that objects, places, and even tasks have meaning to us. He Watches Me is set in LA and when I think of LA, I picture movie stars, Rodeo Drive, and glamour. Anna isn’t a movie star. She isn’t glamorous. She considers herself plain and she tries her best to be invisible, wearing baggy monochrome clothing. When I first ‘met’ Anna, I wondered “What is SHE doing in LA?” I had to write more of the story to find out.

As I loved writing He Watches Me and the rest of the Seen Trilogy, you will definitely see more contemporary erotic romances from me in the future. I’m working on another story right now for Avon Impulse.

Why do you like to read contemporary erotic romances?

    • Thank you, elaing8! I love that each story in the trilogy is priced at 99 cents (less than the cost of convenience store chocolate bar) because it allows new-to-me reading buddies to try my stories out.

    • Aren’t the covers great, Filia? I love how on the first cover (for He Watches Me), she’s alone. Blaine is watching. And the blue is dark, like the color of the swimming pool during her midnight skinny dips. The second (He Touches Me) and third (He Claims Me) covers are increasingly hotter in color (yellow and then red) and in poses.

    • Thank you, nurmawati! I see you’re from Indonesia. I’ve only been to Indonesia once (Bali is my favorite tropical paradise on the planet – so beautiful and spiritual) but one of my bestest buddies grew up in Indonesia (her father was an engineer working there). It holds a very special place in my heart.
