Character Interview with Gideon Montrose from EVER AFTER by Kate SeRine

RtDS: Welcome to Romancing the Dark Side Gideon. I know you’re quite the busy man, thieves to catch and all…so let’s get right to it 😉

Gideon: Thank you for inviting me. Please forgive my inability to stay long. As you say, my king has set me on a rather urgent errand.

RtDS: Give us three interesting facts about you.

GM: I’m not entirely sure that I would consider myself interesting, but there are perhaps things about me of which many are unaware.

I was illiterate until becoming servant to the Seelie king. He insisted that I learn to read, write, and speak well as he expects a certain standard of comportment among his emissaries.

I speak nine languages fluently, which allows me to act on the king’s behalf on many occasions when meeting with our Tale brethren from different cultural traditions.

And I forge my own weapons. Sadly, this kind of craftsmanship is a dying art among the fairies who’ve come to the Here and Now.

RtDS: Who is your best friend in the world and what is he/she like?

GM: I have acquired many good friends in recent years, but I am particularly close to Trish Muffet. She has become my confidante. And of course there is Lavender, my king’s favorite daughter and my former mate. She will always be dear to me.

I suppose my oldest friend, however, is Merlin. On the surface he comes across as an arrogant, womanizing reprobate who thinks of nothing but himself and the pleasure the next moment will bring. But he’s much more than what he at first appears. I suppose that’s why he’s such a talented illusionist. I’m sorry to say it has been far too long since I’ve seen him.

RtDS: Tell me about the place where you live.

GM: I currently reside in a home on the estate of my king and his family, just outside of Chicago. The house was built to my specifications decades ago and features a substantial library. I spend most of my time in that room.

RtDS: When you walk into a room, what do you expect people to notice about you?

GM: My size, I imagine. I stand six and a half feet tall and inherited my father’s powerful build. It’s difficult to miss me.

RtDS: Describe your ideal mate in 140 characters or less.

GM: Intelligent, beguiling, courageous, selfless, kind.

RtDS: You have access to a time machine for one day…where do you go and how would you spend the day?

GM: There is no question which day I would choose. Several centuries ago, long before I came to the Here and Now, I lost someone I loved very much. If I could relive that day, I would hold her in my arms, keep her safe at all costs.

RtDS: What do you consider your special talent?

GM: I am an empath. But at times it can be more of a curse than a talent.

RtDS: How do you feel about your life right now? What, if anything, would you like to change?

GM: My life is…what it is. I have made my peace with my situation and my duty to the king and his family. But I would prefer to be free of the spell of servitude that binds me to the king and instead serve him and his family out of loyalty and affection.

And someday I hope to know love again, perhaps be fortunate enough to start a family of my own.

RtDS: What actor would you want to see play you in a movie based on your life?

GM: I see very few of your films, but I’ve heard I bear a likeness to a man named Chris Hemsworth—but for my red hair.

RtDS: Anything else you’d like to share with your fans? 😉

GM: I have fans? Truly? Then they have my sincere gratitude for their support and admiration. I hope I continue to be worthy of their esteem.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I am afraid my king grows impatient for results. I must leave for New York City to meet with someone who has information on the recent theft of several precious Tale relics. Thank you again for inviting me today.

RtDS: Gideon, it was a pleasure having you on the blog today, feel free to come back any time!

ABOUT THE BOOK…

Ever After (eBook)

Ever After (Transplanted Tales #4)

To Catch a Thief…

For centuries, Gideon Montrose has served the King of Fairies without question and, often, without mercy. So when the King orders him to apprehend a notorious thief, Gideon obeys. But when he finally gets his hands on the beautiful culprit, Gideon’s in for a shock.

Arabella Locksley is none other than the spirited, unpredictable woman he knew back in Make Believe as Robin Hood — the love of his life whose tragic death destroyed his chance at Happily Ever After.

Now, he has an impossible choice. Betray the woman he once loved, or the king he’s bound to serve?

And, thus, her love for paranormal romance was born.

Kate is the author of the award-winning Transplanted Tales series, available from Kensington Books.
