About Viola Carr

Viola Carr was born in Australia, but wandered into darkest London one foggy October evening and never found her way out. She now devours countless history books and dictates fantastical novels by gaslight, accompanied by classical music and the snoring of her slumbering cat. She loves history, and pops down to London’s many historical sites whenever she gets the chance. She likes steampunk, and thought it would be cool to investigate wacky crimes with crazy gadgets…just so long as her heroine was the creator of said wacky gadgets: a tinkerer, edgy, with a dash of mad scientist.

  1. I’ve never read Steampunk and I am not sure if I would like it or not. But this does sound really good-so I guess there’s a first time for everything right?Maybe.. Thanks!

  2. GAH. I hate when this happens. Books like this one (steampunk in general), but especially this one, always make me think, “This one will be different. This one I will love,” b/c not just steampunk. Sorcery and Jekyll and Hyde and . . . *eyes glaze over* And I JUST decided to stay away from all things steampunk b/c Victorians are boring! Except for Karen Memory . . . and maybe this one too . . . and Jim Butcher’s got a new one coming out . . .
